There are some people in the world who have a gift for lifting others up. They notice when someone feels left out, when a friend is struggling, or when someone simply needs to hear, “You’ve got this.” Those people remind us that kindness and encouragement can change the direction of someone’s entire day.

That spirit is at the heart of my newest children’s book, Edith the Encourager, the third book in my growing series from Cowgirl Manifesto Publishing.
In this story, readers meet Edith, a thoughtful little cowgirl who believes that cheering on her friends is just as important as chasing her own dreams. Whether someone is nervous about trying something new, feeling discouraged after a mistake, or simply unsure of themselves, Edith is always there with the right words and the right heart.
Through Edith’s actions, young readers learn an important lesson: encouragement is powerful. Sometimes the greatest thing we can do isn’t to be the best or the fastest or the bravest — it’s to stand beside someone else and help them believe in themselves.
Like the other books in this series, Edith the Encourager is rooted in the western lifestyle many families love: horses, friendship, resilience, and strong character. But at its core, the story is about something much bigger: teaching children the value of kindness, empathy, and supporting one another.
I believe that social-emotional skills are just as important as academic ones. Children who learn to encourage others grow into adults who build stronger communities, better friendships, and healthier workplaces.
That’s why I created Edith.

She reminds us that a kind word can help someone try again, take a risk, or believe in themselves just a little bit more.
Edith the Encourager joins the growing collection of stories designed to help kids learn perseverance, kindness, and confidence, all through characters who feel right at home in boots and the wide-open western world.
I hope Edith inspires young readers everywhere to become encouragers in their own lives.
Because sometimes the most powerful words a child can learn to say are simply:
“I believe in you.”
